Store Launch
The jewels, champagne, and a touch of the Riviera, L’Atelier Paris opened its first boutique at Oceans Mall with an exclusive launch that paired French fine jewellery and timepieces with Afro-Franco cuisine, Laurent-Perrier champagne, and live Riviera-inspired music.
When L’Atelier Paris opened its doors on Oceans Mall’s Platinum Walk, the opportunity was bigger than launching another luxury retail store. It was the brand’s introduction to South Africa’s east coast, and the experience needed to establish what L’Atelier Paris represented before many of its guests had ever stepped inside.
Working in collaboration with Gold’n Thread Consulting, Monks Media developed the launch around a simple idea: rather than decorate a store opening with references to France, we would translate the world of the brand into an experience.
The French Riviera became our creative starting point. Its effortless relationship between luxury, hospitality and coastal living created a natural bridge between Parisian heritage and Umhlanga, allowing us to introduce the brand in a way that felt internationally sophisticated while still belonging to its new location.
That thinking carried through every part of the evening.
Inside the boutique, collections from Breitling, Cartier, Fred, Le Page, Longines, Messika and TAG Heuer remained the focus. Around them, the hospitality, music and atmosphere were designed to build context rather than compete for attention.
Chef Carissa and the Bleu Berri Catering team developed an Afro-French canapé menu that brought the two worlds together through food, paired with Laurent-Perrier Champagne. Matt Davies and Tim Lewis created a live soundtrack inspired by the boulevards and coastal energy of Nice and Cannes, while bespoke lighting transformed the store as the evening progressed.
Far South Media captured the experience as an extension of that thinking, creating a library of imagery that allowed the launch to continue beyond the guest list and gave L’Atelier Paris content through which to introduce its new destination to a wider audience.
The result was more than an opening night.
It established a world around the store: one where international luxury and heritage could meet the contemporary energy of South Africa’s east coast, positioning L’Atelier Paris not simply as somewhere to purchase exceptional jewellery and timepieces, but as a luxury destination in its own right.

The store was the destination. The launch gave people a reason to understand it that way.
